Merry Christmas! It’s almost here. The bulletins are done. My shopping is done. My tree is decorated. I’m almost ready.
Do you think Mary was ready for that first Christmas? Or Joseph, the innkeeper, the shepherds? Was anyone prepared for that very first Christmas when God appeared as an infant? I’ve had over 2000 years to get ready for the coming of Christ, and each year it catches me off guard in some way. Perhaps it’s holding my very own baby boy, but I’ve found myself tearing up as I think of Mary the new mother, and Mary the mother of our crucified Lord. Friday night, Christmas Eve, we’ll hear the familiar words of Luke 2. Each year, The Story, touches my heart in some new way, convicting, comforting, confirming my hopes and dreams. I pray it will do the same for you.
